{"id":23450,"date":"2026-04-27T17:49:40","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T17:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/23450\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T17:49:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T17:49:40","slug":"co-antrim-crash-claims-life-of-teenage-boy-with-10-year-old-left-in-critical-condition-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/23450\/","title":{"rendered":"Co Antrim crash claims life of teenage boy with 10-year-old left in critical condition \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/co-antrim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/co-antrim\/\">Co Antrim<\/a> crash has taken the life of a teenage boy, the PSNI confirmed on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The crash, which has also left a 10-year-old child in critical condition in hospital, was one of four fatal incidents that took place over the weekend, bringing the death toll to five. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police say the two-vehicle crash occurred on the Belfast Road, Nutts Corner, on Sunday morning (26th April).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 16-year-old boy, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/co-antrim-crash-claims-life-of-teenage-boy-with-10-year-old-left-in-critical-condition-KGZGIM6PGJDJJNJ5L3WVYCOQN4\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Co Antrim crash claims life of teenage boy with 10-year-old left in critical condition\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/MC4KUNYIHRAP7P4TGJHYICPBBU.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/daughter-of-loving-mother-who-disappeared-in-mysterious-circumstances-believes-she-was-murdered-7ONWAMHU6BECFMHMCSG7KHJKGM\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Daughter of &#x2018;loving mother&#x2019; who disappeared in mysterious circumstances believes she was murdered \" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/KKLFQOP5BZCABMT7BNRYGDSGCI.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\/\">PSNI<\/a> spokesperson said: \u201cPolice received a report of a collision involving a Black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat shortly before 8am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOfficers attended alongside emergency partners, and a male passenger in the Passat, who was aged 16 and from the Tipperary area, passed away at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe driver of the Passat sustained minor injuries, while two other passengers are still in hospital, including a 10-year-old child who remains in a critical condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The driver of the black Golf has been arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Belfast Road, which was closed most of Sunday, has now reopened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The PSNI spokesperson added: \u201cOur enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 348 of 26\/04\/26.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Co Antrim crash has taken the life of a teenage boy, the PSNI confirmed on Monday.
