London Euston travel advice as major May upgrades get underway<\/p>\n

North West & Central<\/a><\/p>\n | Passengers travelling to and from London Euston in May are being urged to plan ahead as Network Rail carries out a series of essential upgrades, but the station and the majority of the West Coast Main Line will remain open throughout, with trains continuing to run on all affected weekends.<\/p>\n Across the Early May bank holiday (Saturday 2 to Monday 4 May), engineers will deliver major track renewal work in the Willesden South and Primrose Hill areas. While trains will continue to operate, a reduced service will run in and out of Euston, and there will be no London Overground services between Euston and Kilburn High Road.<\/p>\n More than \u00a38 million is being invested at Willesden Junction, alongside \u00a31 million at Harlesden to install five new switches and crossings, the specialist track components that allow trains to move between lines. At Primrose Hill, almost \u00a31.5 million will be spent renewing track, and over \u00a31 million will go towards drainage improvements near Milton Keynes to help prevent flooding and improve long\u2011term reliability.<\/p>\n Further work will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, when HS2 construction activity outside Euston, in preparation for Britain’s new high-speed railway, will again mean a reduced timetable, but the station will remain open and trains will continue to run.<\/p>\n A final weekend of work on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May will see drainage improvements near Milton Keynes and further HS2 activity outside Euston. Services will be reduced.<\/p>\n Gary Walsh, Network Rail\u2019s West Coast South route director said: \u201cThe work taking place throughout May will improve reliability and reduce delays across this key section of the railway for years to come.<\/p>\n \u201cThere will be some changes to services during this time, and I would like to thank passengers for their patience.
