{"id":25217,"date":"2026-04-29T18:32:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T18:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/25217\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T18:32:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T18:32:13","slug":"could-the-renters-rights-act-cause-a-landlord-exodus-in-britain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/25217\/","title":{"rendered":"Could the Renters&#8217; Rights Act cause a landlord exodus in Britain?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gerard Boon, managing director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpamag.com\/uk\/companies\/boon-brokers\/492500\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boon Brokers<\/a>, told Mortgage Introducer many landlords have fears around potentially being stuck with difficult tenants. \u201cFrom my conversations with landlords, their biggest worry is regarding evicting \u2018problem tenants\u2019 and the prospect of facing lengthy tribunal claims,\u201d he said. \u201cSince no fault evictions have been abolished with the new bill, it&#8217;s going to be far tougher to remove tenants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, if a landlord wishes to evict a property\u2019s tenants, they will need to have a legal reason to do so. Some of those reasons include not paying rent on time, committing antisocial behaviour in or near the property, or not caring properly for the property.<\/p>\n<p>Boon also said the legislation may not be as beneficial as some renters assume.
