The artwork was been covered with clear Perspex to protect it. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/SEI_216127882_01e2bc.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-21373848\" alt=\"Banksy has unveiled another new artwork in London depicting two elephants poking their heads out of blocked out windows. The Bristol-based street artist shared a photo of the wall art which features two dark elephant silhouettes with their trunks stretched out towards each other on Instagram on Tuesday. Photo credit should read: Aaron Chown\/PA Wire\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThe Peckham sign was stolen in broad daylight (Picture: Aaron Chown\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p>One gallery owner told the BBC that the sign could be worth up to \u00a3500,000.<\/p>\n<p>In other instances, though, Banksy\u2019s work has been accidentally destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Also in 2023 builders <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/03\/15\/latest-banksy-mural-was-demolished-before-anyone-even-knew-about-it-18449185\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unknowingly demolished a Banksy<\/a> mural on the side of a derelict farmhouse in Kent.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It made me feel sick realising it was a Banksy \u2013 we were gutted. However, pieces of his work owned by other people have fetched tens of millions at auction.<\/p>\n<p>He gave the artwork Game Changer to Southampton Hospital in 2020 as a thank you to NHS workers. The painting was later sold for \u00a316.8million, with the money going towards <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/nhs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NHS<\/a> causes.<\/p>\n<p>A 2005 painting called Sunflowers From Petrol Station, which parodied Van Gogh\u2019s famous sunflower paintings, fetched \u00a310.7million in 2021 when it was sold by fashion designer Sir Paul Smith.<\/p>\n<p>And the artist reportedly <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/04\/banksy-factor-prints-make-22-777-000-just-12-months-22852225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">made \u00a322.7million selling his prints<\/a> in the year to April 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Who is Banksy?<\/p>\n<p>The mystery surrounding Banksy has, understandably, made people eager to <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/07\/18\/bankys-right-hand-man-reveals-moment-elusive-artist-seconds-exposed-23692661\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">find out his true identity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though nothing\u2019s ever been verified, there have been a few rumours, clues, and hints as to who they actually are. <\/p>\n<p>Of course, it\u2019s thought that Banksy wants to keep their identity a secret, given that graffiti is a crime \u2013 but myths about their real name are common, often linking back to the beginning of their career, as well as those who have publicly \u2018named\u2019 them.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/pri_53460522.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-6936471\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tOne of Banksy\u2019s iconic murals (Picture: REX\/Shutterstock)<\/p>\n<p>Banksy began their artistic journey as one of Bristol\u2019s DryBreadZ Crew. They were influenced by others on the Bristol Underground Scene \u2013 including 3D, better known as Robert Del Naja, one of the members of the band Massive Attack.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours that Banksy is Massive Attack\u2019s Robert Del Naja have persisted. The performer identified himself as a personal friend of Banksy, and in June 2017, rapper Goldie referred\u00a0to Banksy as \u2018Rob\u2019 when conversing about art in a podcast interview with Scroobius Pip.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the timing of Banksy\u2019s past works across the world is in tandem with the touring schedule of Massive Attack.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/458364485.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-6728048\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tRobert Del Naja of Massive Attack has denied claims that he is Banksy (Picture: Brian Rasic\/WireImage)<\/p>\n<p>However, Goldie may have been referring to Robin Gunningham, who was said to be Banksy by some former schoolmates from Bristol and associates in a 2008\u00a0Mail on Sunday investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The suggestion that Robin Gunningham was Banksy was supported by the study of locations of Banksy\u2019s art, which correlated with the known movements of Gunningham.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with a Bristol community magazine, Boundless, Banksy was asked about the Robert De Naja rumours.
