Residents were evacuated from a block of flats in Plymouth after a huge fire broke out.<\/p>\n

Flames poured from the building, located just off North Hill, in the early hours of Thursday morning (April 30).<\/p>\n

Six fire engines were sent to the building, where a fire had broken out on a roof terrace, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.<\/p>\n

Crews from Totnes, Plympton<\/a>, Camels Head, Greenbank, Crownhill<\/a> and Plymstock<\/a> rushed out to tackle the blaze.<\/p>\n

The decking area was completely destroyed by the blaze, the fire service said. Its cause was deemed accidental.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the fire service said: “Three fire engines and an Aerial ladder platform, were all sent to a report of a fire in a block of flats in Plymouth.<\/p>\n

“On arrival crews confirmed this was a large fire on a roof terrace and requested further assistance. A further 3 fire engines (6 in total) and a command support unit were sent to assist. Crews extinguished the fire using:<\/p>\n

“This fire was believed to have been started on a communal decking area of the roof terrace, which was totally destroyed by the fire.
