{"id":26868,"date":"2026-05-01T20:51:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/26868\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T20:51:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:51:08","slug":"king-tour-live-charles-hailed-in-bermuda-after-trumps-shock-decision-royal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/26868\/","title":{"rendered":"King tour LIVE: Charles hailed in Bermuda after Trump&#8217;s shock decision | Royal | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Locals started gathering around King\u2019s Square from 8am this morning to secure their positions along the Union flag-covered railings.<\/p>\n<p>Schoolchildren are brimming with excitement as they stand, waving their Bermudan and UK flags in the sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>Theo Godfrey, aged four, is fittingly dressed in a replica King\u2019s Guard uniform, complete with the red tunic and bearskin hat worn by the guard standing outside of St James\u2019s Palace and Buckingham Palace.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His mother purchased the outfit from the official Buckingham Palace shop two years ago and joked \u201che\u2019s worn it ever since!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sisters Freya, nine, and Sophie, seven, said they were \u201cvery excited\u201d to see the King and wave their flags, though they were disappointed they had to return to school once Charles had left.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jane Gregory, a retired banker, said she saw the late Queen Elizabeth when she visited in 2009 and has come today because it\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the King.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means a lot to me that he\u2019s coming, I\u2019m from England originally, it means a huge amount to me, I\u2019m very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The weather has markedly improved since the downpours and strong winds of earlier this morning, with bright sunshine breaking through shortly before the king\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Siblings Albie, six, and Aurora, four, spent last night and this morning making two posters to show the King.<\/p>\n<p>The first, written in red, white and blue and complete with a union flag, read: \u201cWelcome to St George\u2019s, Bermuda, King Charles III.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also made a crown, which Aurora held on a stick.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Their parents said they wanted to come down as their surname is George, the same as the town, former monarchs and the second in line to the throne.<\/p>\n<p>In the lead up to the royal arrival, town crier Ed Christopher was practising his bell ringing &#8211; much to the delight of the primary school children.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been in the role since the late Queen\u2019s visit in 1994 and he covers the whole island.<\/p>\n<p>Are you excited to see the King?
