break-words\"><a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/prince-william\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Prince William;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Prince William<\/a> , 43, pays up to \u00a37 million in income <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/tax\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:tax;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">tax<\/a> a year, according to the Sunday Times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This puts <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/william-kate-share-birthday-portrait-093428432.html\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:the heir to the throne;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the heir to the throne<\/a> in the top 0.002 per cent of British taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Most of William\u2019s income comes from the \u00a320 million or more he received from the Duchy of Cornwall, a land estate valued at more than \u00a31 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The estate has been inherited by every heir to the English, then British, crown class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It is understood the prince pays the highest marginal rate of tax, 45 per cent, on his personal earnings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, he has no legal obligation to do so due to an agreement made between the Treasury and the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Duchy of Cornwall is made up of around 3,000 properties in 23 counties in England and Wales and covers around 130,000 to 140,000 acres of land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It includes, cottages, shops, commercial buildings and coastal rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Sunday Times reports that William can deduct official expenditure from the duchy income before calculating his tax bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Which expenses William files as tax deductions from this
