A child has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a swimming pool in Hyde<\/a> this afternoon.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at Hyde Leisure Pool on Walker Lane, on Sunday (May 3).<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands that emergency crews were called to the scene following reports that a child had got into difficulty in the water.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said the pool was evacuated as paramedics rushed to help. One person told the M.E.N. they saw leisure centre staff carrying out CPR before ambulance crews arrived.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the child was conscious when they were taken to hospital for further checks after being pulled from the water.<\/p>\n

A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokesperson said: “We received a call for a child in cardiac arrest at Active Hyde and several NWAS resources were dispatched to the scene, in which a patient was then taken to Tameside General Hospital.”<\/p>\n
