and a chink of light for Labour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>YouGov has predicted in Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Dudley<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"birminghammail\" class=\"PremiumArticleBadge_premium-badge-image__ceBDv\" data-testid=\"premium-byline-birminghammail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/assets\/birminghammail\/images\/premium-byline-birminghammail.svg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>05:29, 04 May 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/0_YouGovJPG.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">New polling has Reform UK gaining the most votes in every 2026 local election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Despite this, the latest YouGov polling may actually be a relief to the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Labour party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As BirminghamLive has previously reported, Labour has been predicted to be wiped out in historically safe <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Birmingham<\/a> City Council, but YouGov&#8217;s latest polling suggests it will be level pegging with Reform UK in the city, on 21 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Read more: <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/midlands-news\/birmingham-mum-issues-update-councils-33842859\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Mum&#8217;s two years of temporary housing hell<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, in every other West Midlands local election, Reform are predicted to land the most votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">That ranges from Labour heartlands like <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/sandwell\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Sandwell<\/a>, where Reform is predicted to land 28% of the vote, to <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/solihull\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Solihull<\/a>, which has recently been Conservative-dominated, where it is projected to get 31%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The polling, however, is not really good news for Labour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The party has held power in Birmingham for years and previously had all 72 councillors on Sandwell Council &#8211; so seeing that eroded to this extent is historic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If YouGov&#8217;s polling were to come true, both Birmingham and Sandwell would be no-overall-control &#8211; but big wins for Nigel Farage&#8217;s Reform UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Elsewhere, YouGov is predicting big wins for the Greens &#8211;
