<\/p>\nWelsh Water has responded to video footage posted on social media platform X, apologising for the spill, which it said was a storm overflow<\/p>\n

Welsh Water has apologised after brown liquid was filmed gushing into a Welsh river. Footage was posted on social media website X showing the liquid pouring into the River Conwy, in the area of Llanrwst library heading towards Gowers Bridge.<\/p>\n
It was met with anger amongst those who watched the footage, with some describing it as “disgusting” and “shocking”.<\/p>\n
The water company said it was a storm overflow, which operated for 45 minutes on Friday, May 1.<\/p>\n
It said in the comments on the post that it had since carried out water samples which had proved there had been no impact to the river’s health. Stay in the know by making sure you\u2019re receiving our daily newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n Welsh Water said in response: “This storm overflow at the River Conwy<\/a> operated for approximately 45 minutes on the morning of May 1.<\/p>\n “This was the only spill recorded.<\/p>\n “Initial water quality samples taken both upstream and downstream indicate that there has been no impact on the river\u2019s health.<\/p>\n “As a precaution, we continued sampling over the weekend to ensure conditions remain stable.<\/p>\n “We apologise for this incident and understand the concern it may cause.<\/p>\n “We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to do so over the coming days.”<\/p>\n Commenting on the video, @stuartpengs said he had raised the same issue seven years ago but, “nothing ever gets done about it”.<\/p>\n Another person, @sidcot, said: “They must quietly pray that nobody sees this going on whenever they do it. We need Ring Door bell type cameras on every outflow which triggers when flow commences and records.
