A house explosion which killed two people in Bristol at the weekend<\/a> was caused by a ”hand grenade set off by an ex”, it has been claimed. The blast on Sunday, May 3, left a man and a woman dead and three injured with police sending in a bomb squad.<\/p>\n

Reports now say it was caused by a man setting off a grenade<\/a> – killing himself and his ex partner. The three other injured people including a child have since been released from hospital.<\/p>\n

One local told The Sun: \u201cHe\u2019s turned up at her house with a grenade and detonated it on the doorstep and killed the pair of them. At first when I heard the boom I thought it was a gas explosion or even a huge car crash. I could feel the whole house shake.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, May 4, rumours of the grenade attack circulated online – claiming the male victim was ex forces. One wrote: ”Dude pulls a hand grenade on his Mrs is just on another level of b*tshit crazy.”<\/p>\n

Police are still investigating the blast which happened at 6.30am on Sunday. A cordon was put up but has since been relaxed.<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police declared a major incident<\/a> after the blast at an address in Sterncourt Road, Bristol, just before 6.30am. On Sunday, Superintendent Matt Ebbs told reporters: \u201cAt about 6.17am we received a call to attend a domestic related incident at a residential address in Sterncourt Road.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers were sent to the scene but shortly before they arrived, at just after 6.30am, there was an explosion inside the property. A woman and a man have died at the address and we\u2019re treating the explosion as suspicious.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir families have been updated and are being supported by specially trained officers, and our thoughts are very much with them.
