{"id":29386,"date":"2026-05-05T19:14:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T19:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/29386\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T19:14:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T19:14:11","slug":"all-the-london-high-street-chains-closing-stores-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/29386\/","title":{"rendered":"All the London High Street chains closing stores in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/newsletter_we_final_embed_desktop.png\" alt=\"WEST END FINAL\" width=\"158px\" height=\"158px\" class=\"sc-eEbqID ecGikU\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The British <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/high-street\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">high street<\/a> continues to struggle in 2026, with a number of major <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/retailers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">retailers<\/a> closing stores for good.<\/p>\n<p>Rising costs, shoppers moving online and increases to National Insurance contributions and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/minimum-wage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the minimum wage<\/a> have meant several staples of the high street are suffering.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/london\/franco-manca-london-restaurant-closures-full-list-b1281139.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pizzeria chain Franco Manca<\/a> confirmed on Tuesday that they will push ahead with the closure of 16 of its restaurants, including nine in London. <\/p>\n<p>The Standard has compiled a full list of announced upcoming closures in London in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, parent firm The Fulham Shore said it planned to shut a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/franco-manca\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Franco Manca<\/a> sites as part of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) process, which will also hit around 225 jobs. <\/p>\n<p>Now the closures will go ahead after a restructuring plan was approved by creditors.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/01144059-f3ed4ceb-3dfa-481b-81fc-17abd27795ed.jpg\" width=\"5239\" height=\"3493\" alt=\"The Fulham Shore closed a raft of Franco Manca sites last month (Alamy\/PA)\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Franco Manca<\/p>\n<p>Local Library<\/p>\n<p>The pizza brand currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/going-out\/restaurants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">runs 70 restaurants<\/a> prior to the closures but said it has been knocked by \u201cdisproportionately high\u201d UK taxes and a lack of business rates relief for restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>The affected restaurants were \u201cno longer sustainable\u201d as a result.<\/p>\n<p>List of Franco Manca restaurants to close in London<\/p>\n<p>Battersea Broadway Market Brixton Bromley Chiswick Kilburn New Oxford Street Tottenham Court Road Stoke Newington <\/p>\n<p>The banking giant is set to close 37 branches across the country over the coming months, with 13 of those in or around the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Most of these closures are to take place in May and June this year, with other dates confirmed through February 2027.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/685091b3d159d4b0326399e745e178f9Y29udGVudHNlYXJjaGFwaSwxNzc3NDYwMjE0-2.79996618.jpg\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" alt=\"Protesters have forced NatWest to halt its shareholder meeting (Mike Egerton\/PA)\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>NatWest<\/p>\n<p>PA Archive<\/p>\n<p>Most will be replaced by banking hubs, allowing customers to use in-person services while significantly downsizing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/natwest\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The bank<\/a> is hoping to redeploy many of its workers to avoid job cuts when making the transition.<\/p>\n<p>List of Natwest branches to close in London<\/p>\n<p>Barnet: May 11 Eastcote: May 11 Brentwood: May 13 Loughton: May 18 Tooting: May 18 Hornchurch: May 21 Orpington: May 27 Waltham Cross: May 28 Fulham Broadway: June 18 Liverpool Street Station: June 17 Palmers Green, London: June 1 Southall: June 4 Regent Street: September 30 <\/p>\n<p>In February, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/lloyds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lloyds Banking Group,<\/a> which includes Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland confirmed that 95 branches would close across the UK. <\/p>\n<p>The  banking group will still have 610 branches remaining after the closures, but 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax, and 11 Bank of Scotland sites will shut.<\/p>\n<p>The closures will all take place between May 2026 and March 2027 &#8211;
