Merseyside Police have issued an update after a man was found dead in a house on Aigburth<\/a> Road. Merseyside Police<\/a> were called to a property on Aigburth Road<\/a> at 8.55am today, Tuesday, May 5 following reports of a concern for safety.<\/p>\n North West Ambulance<\/a> attended and a man, who the ECHO <\/a>understands is in his 60s, was found dead inside the property. Police<\/a> said, at this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. Police arrested a 62-year-old woman on suspicion of murder and took her into custody.<\/p>\n In an update this morning, a police spokesperson told the ECHO the woman has been released on bail. Enquires into the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n When the ECHO arrived at the scene at around 1.45pm yesterday, police cars, forensics and a van for a funeral directors were parked up outside the property, which is divided into five flats.<\/p>\n Police officers continued to guard the property throughout the afternoon, which is opposite the Kwik Fit garage, as forensic teams in white suits headed in and out.<\/p>\n A man was parked up in his car on Galbraith Close opposite the scene when the ECHO arrived. At that time, it was not known what the nature of the police incident was.<\/p>\n He said: “They had the blue lights on when they got here at 9am. I know because I took my mother-in-law out at 8.55am. Later on there were detectives asking the shops for CCTV footage. Something big must have happened. I’ve been checking the ECHO to see what it was.”<\/p>\n A forensic van outside the property yesterday(Image: Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n A woman living on Aigburth<\/a> Road told the ECHO she’d heard there had been a murder arrest, explaining officers would be visiting her again today to take a witness statement. She declined to give any further information.<\/p>\n As news of the incident filtered through, other Aigburth Road residents said it was rare to see any police in the area.<\/p>\n One woman said: “That’s so sad. You don’t know what’s gone on. I don’t know who lived there. It’s unusual to see police here. Whatever’s happened is a one-off.\u201d<\/p>\n Another woman said: \u201cIt\u2019s awful. There were loads of police here earlier but we didn\u2019t know what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n A third woman said: \u201cWe don\u2019t see police around here. We can hear them going past at night but that\u2019s it. You feel safe here. I heard the sirens this morning. I asked the officer what was going on but he wouldn\u2019t say.\u201d<\/p>\n One man working in a local shop swore in astonishment when he heard there had been a murder arrest, adding: \u201cIt\u2019s a nice, quiet area.\u201d His colleague said: \u201cYou don\u2019t know what\u2019s on your doorstep do you?<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never seen anyone coming out of that house. I\u2019ve seen people coming out of the one next door – it\u2019s a bit of a party pad, all stag and hen dos. But that house? Nothing.
