{"id":30689,"date":"2026-05-07T11:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T11:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/30689\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T11:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T11:14:09","slug":"train-cancellations-live-south-england-chaos-as-swr-southern-and-thameslink-affected-uk-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/30689\/","title":{"rendered":"Train cancellations LIVE: South England chaos as SWR, Southern and Thameslink affected | UK | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Commuters across Southern England are facing major travel disruption today due to an issue with a radio communications system affecting communication between <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Trains\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/trains\" target=\"_blank\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">trains<\/a> and signalers.<\/p>\n<p>South Western Railway (SWR), Southern, Thameslink, CrossCountry, Gatwick Express and London Overground services are impacted. <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Travel advice\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/travel-advice\" target=\"_blank\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Travel disruption<\/a> is expected to continue until the end of the day as operations and engineering teams work with signallers to try and find a solution.<\/p>\n<p>SWR wrote on its website: &#8220;Due to issues with communication systems at <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"London\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/london\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">London Waterloo<\/a>, all lines are disrupted. Train services running to and from this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day. We have been made aware of an issue that is affecting communications between trains and signallers. This is affecting trains across the SWR network. Significant disruption across all routes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It added: &#8220;Trains are operating under signaller instructions while teams investigate.
