We\u2019re fully in the swing of spring, but many of us are already thinking ahead to summer.<\/a><\/p>\n More specifically, we\u2019re trying to work out which of London\u2019s<\/a> outdoor terraces we need to book now, to make the most of the sunshine<\/a> when it finally hits.<\/p>\n But finding the perfect spot to enjoy a spritz<\/a> is easier said than done, especially as everyone and their mother will be planning to do the same.\u00a0<\/p>\n As such, we at Metro won\u2019t, in good conscience, gatekeep one of our favourite spots for drinking and dining al fresco.\u00a0<\/p>\n Here\u2019s everything you need to know about it\u2026<\/p>\n Where\u2019s London\u2019s best summer terrace?<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tWelcome to the Slice\t\t\t<\/p>\n The Slice<\/a> is your weekly guide to what\u2019s happening in\u00a0London<\/a>, so if you\u2019re looking for restaurant<\/a> reviews,\u00a0drinks<\/a>\u00a0deals or just a great new exhibition to visit on a rainy Saturday in the capital, we\u2019ve got you covered.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll be in your inbox every week, bringing you expert reviews, exclusive deals and the latest events.\u00a0Sign up here<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\t Like with all the best things in life, you\u2019ll have to put in a little work if you want to enjoy this place. That\u2019s because, for many Londoners, it\u2019s going to be a bit of a trek \u2013 all the way to one end of the District Line, to be precise.<\/p>\n The terrace in question can be found at Scott\u2019s in Richmond, a stunning riverside spot that overlooks the Thames.<\/p>\n While it\u2019s not quite on the roof of the restaurant,<\/a> you\u2019re at the ideal height to sit back and enjoy incredible, uninterrupted views of the water and the wide, open sky above.\u00a0<\/p>\n This scene becomes even more magical if you time your visit right to see the sun start to set, as you\u2019re in the perfect spot to watch the sky become a vibrant canvas covered in shades of orange and pink, as the sun dips below the horizon.\u00a0<\/p>\n And if you\u2019re someone who can\u2019t resist snapping a pic for the \u2018gram, this is the place to really make the most of that golden hour glow.<\/p>\n \t\t For Spring 2026, Scott\u2019s Richmond has partnered with Silent Pool Gin to turn the terrace into a botanical garden.<\/p>\n The ceilings and windows are covered in realistic-looking wisteria, cascading leafy green vines, and lots of lemons, which all add fantastic pops of colour and almost make you feel like you\u2019ve been swept off to Italy<\/a>.<\/p>\n And you don\u2019t have to panic at all about getting chilly when the sun goes down, as there are plenty of gloriously cosy blankets dotted around, and the terrace is heated too. <\/p>\n \t\t There\u2019s a limited-edition Spring drinks<\/a> menu, featuring several cocktails crafted with Silent Pool Gin, with prices starting from \u00a313.<\/p>\n A real highlight is the Silent Bloom Spritz (\u00a315), which combines Silent Pool Gin, Silent Pool Rose Expression, tawny port, lemon juice, orange bitters, and Fever-Tree orange and raspberry soda.<\/p>\n A refreshing change from your average Aperol, it\u2019s an elegant, fruity and slightly bitter drink that tastes like summer in a glass.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fans of Royal Ascot<\/a> can also enjoy one of the signature drinks from the races \u2013 the Royal Ascot Blush (\u00a315).<\/p>\n \t\t Served at the event each year, it features Silent Pool Gin, raspberry, lemon, plus Fever-Tree lemonade, and is finished with the Ascot Silent Pool Gin Raspberry and Mint Aroma Garnish.<\/p>\n This is the ideal drink for those who prefer something that tastes a little less boozy and a little more fruity. It\u2019s deliciously sweet and smooth, which means it goes down far too easily.\u00a0<\/p>\n However, if none of those are quite right, there\u2019s always the bar\u2019s signature selection of drinks to choose from, including a French 75 or White Negroni, as well as classics like a Cosmo, Margarita or Martini.<\/p>\n Mocktails are on the menu, and you can eat on the terrace too, which is a plus, as Scott\u2019s other location in Mayfair was recently named one of London\u2019s most iconic restaurants<\/a>, and they share the same dishes.<\/p>\n The \u00e0 la carte offering includes plenty of seafood \u2013 the restaurant\u2019s specialty \u2013 with everything from sushi to dressed crab, saut\u00e9ed monkfish cheeks, and seared scallops.<\/p>\n There\u2019s lobster too, of course, plus meat dishes with sirloin steak, Iberico pork chops, and roasted Devonshire chicken breast.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t skip dessert either. The lemon madelienes, made to order and served warm, are a real treat. <\/p>\n Tempted to give the place a try? You can enquire about booking online at scotts-richmond.com, just make sure you select the \u2018outside\u2019 option to let them know it\u2019s terrace seating you\u2019re after.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tAnd while you’re in Richmond…\t\t\t<\/p>\n If you\u2019re going to check out Scott\u2019s, you\u2019ll also want to swing by Richmond Park.<\/p>\n While there, head on over to the Isabella Plantation, London\u2019s hidden woodland garden<\/a>, so beautiful it has to be seen to be believed.<\/p>\n First established in the 1830s, the plantation features an extensive collection of Azaleas, as well as Rhododendron, Magnolia, and Camellia, plus various ponds and \u2018unusual\u2019 trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants.<\/p>\n The Azaleas bloom in various shades of pink, purple, and red towards the end of April and into May, and they are a real sight to see.<\/p>\n \t\t Metro\u2019s senior lifestyle reporter,\u00a0Courtney Pochin<\/a>, visited last Spring and would encourage everyone to see it if they have the chance, as it \u2018took her breath away\u2019.<\/p>\n She said: \u2018The colours are so vibrant at their peak, and they\u2019re everywhere.
