This means every councillor is defending their seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Seats on the Milton Keynes City Council were up for election in the wards of Bletchley Park &amp; Fenny Stratford, Bletchley South, Bletchley West, Bradwell, Broughton &amp; Moulsoe, Campbell Park &amp; Willen, Central Milton Keynes, Danesborough, Furzton, Great Linford, Hanslope, New Bradwell, Newport Pagnell, Olney &amp; Rural, Ouzel Valley, Stony Stratford, Tattenhoe, Walton, Watling, Wolverton, and Woughton &amp; Fishermead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">City councillors in Milton Keynes are elected for four years, but normally a third are elected at a time, which can make it difficult for one party to take full control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In 2024, the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Labour Party<\/a> won enough councillors to reach the 29 needed for a majority, the first time that has happened since 2004 when the<a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/liberal-democrats\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\"> Liberal Democrats<\/a> ran the authority.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, ahead of the election, a Boundary Commission review increased the number of councillors from 57 to 60, representing 21 wards. The boundaries of all wards, except Tattenhoe, have changed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Milton Keynes City Council is a unitary authority responsible for local government services such as <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/education\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">education<\/a>, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/social-care\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">social care<\/a>, highways, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/transport\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">transport<\/a>, planning and recycling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with the results counted on Friday, May 8. Results for the Milton Keynes local elections are due from 5pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Below you can see the full results for every seat up for election in Milton Keynes.
