The family of a man who was found dead in a roof garden in Bristol has paid tribute to a “much-loved son, brother and uncle” as police confirmed his death is being treated as a murder<\/a> enquiry.<\/p>\n

A man’s body was found in a roof garden<\/a> on a block of flats in Redcliff Street shortly before 8.20am on Tuesday, May 5.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

He has now been identified as 54-year-old Anthony Clemmings, known as Tony.<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police<\/a> said they are treating Tony’s death as a murder enquiry at this time.<\/p>\n

Tony’s family have today shared a tribute via the police, which said his death had “come as a huge shock to us”.<\/p>\n

The family tribute said: “Tony was a lovely man to all those that truly knew him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a much-loved son, brother and uncle and he will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis death has come as a huge shock to us and we ask for privacy as we try to come to terms with what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Our sympathies are with Tony\u2019s family, who are being supported by specially-trained officers.”<\/p>\n

Tony’s death was previously being treated as suspicious<\/a>, but the force has said it is now a murder enquiry.<\/p>\n

The investigation into his death is ongoing as patrols have been carried out in the area to provide reassurance.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the force said: “We can confirm the 54-year-old\u2019s death is being treated as a murder enquiry led by detectives from our Major Crime Investigation Team.<\/p>\n

“Forensic and CCTV enquiries have been carried out and our investigation into his death is progressing.<\/p>\n

“We know this incident will cause significant concern within the community and our neighbourhood team have been carrying out patrols to provide reassurance and answer any questions.<\/p>\n
