If you’re just catching up – here’s what happened yesterday in the local elections for the rest of London.<\/p>\n

Reform UK took Havering<\/a> and the Green Party elected its first ever mayors as the two parties make waves in the capital.<\/p>\n

Both parties, which are from separate ends of the political spectrum, have seen gains across London, with Green Party leader Zack Polanski declaring \u201cthe new politics is the Green Party versus Reform\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in a major blow for Labour, the Green Party now has two new mayors, Zoe Garbett in Hackney<\/a> and Liam Shrivastava in Lewisham.<\/p>\n

Both were Labour mayoralties until Thursday\u2019s elections, an indication of the huge losses facing the governing party. The Greens also took control of Waltham Forest, their first London council.<\/p>\n

London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan said the election results so far are \u201cbitterly disappointing for Labour\u201d, as he acknowledged Londoners are \u201cfrustrated\u201d.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the Conservatives regained Westminster City Council from Labour and became the largest party in Wandsworth.<\/p>\n

They also held on to their majority in Bexley, Bromley, Hillingdon, and in Kensington and Chelsea.<\/p>\n
