The sweeping victory cements the party&#8217;s dominance in the only London borough where it fields candidates, standing out amidst a broader political shift across the capital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The council results are:<\/p>\n<p>Aspire Party: 33Labour Party: 5Green Party: 5Conservative Party: 1Liberal Democrats: 1<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Aspire demonstrated a commanding performance across the borough, successfully defending its control by sweeping several multi-seat wards. In Bethnal Green East, Bethnal Green West, Blackwall &amp; Cubitt Town, Lansbury, Mile End, and Whitechapel, Aspire candidates decisively took all available seats. It comes as Lutfur Rahman of the Aspire party <a aria-label=\"secured a decisive victoryLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mylondon.news\/news\/east-london-news\/tower-hamlets-mayoral-election-2026-33918302\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">secured a decisive victory<\/a> with 38.75% of the vote, finishing more than 16,000 votes ahead of his closest rival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The party also claimed victory in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mylondon.news\/all-about\/canary-wharf\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Canary Wharf<\/a>, where Maium Talukdar and Saied Ahmed were elected with 1,287 and 1,244 votes respectively. In the single-seat ward of Poplar, Aspire&#8217;s Gulam Kibria Choudhury secured his seat with 982 votes, taking over 42% of the vote share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">While Aspire maintained widespread control, opposition parties established distinct strongholds. The Green Party saw massive success in the Bow area, taking all three seats in Bow East &#8211; led by Mads Churchhouse with a commanding 2,777 votes &#8211; and claiming both seats in Bow West.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Labour successfully managed to hold the Limehouse ward, with David John Edgar winning a highly competitive race against Green and Aspire challengers with 643 votes. Labour also claimed both seats in St Katharine&#8217;s &amp; Wapping, electing Abdal Ullah and Victoria Fleur Lupton, and secured seats in split wards such as Bromley South and Weavers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The local elections also saw isolated victories for other major parties in closely contested split wards. In Shadwell, Liberal Democrat candidate Rabina Khan was successfully elected, taking a seat alongside Aspire&#8217;s Mohammad Harun Miah.
