<\/p>\nBirmingham residents were evacuated from their homes this afternoon as police and Army bomb disposal units recovered “a number of suspicious items” at a property.<\/p>\n
Armed officers responded to Hollymoor Way in Northfield, with an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit sent to the street at around 2pm.<\/p>\n
West Midlands Police said: “As part of an ongoing investigation, officers have today been carrying out a search at an address on Hollymoor Way.<\/p>\n
“This afternoon, a number of suspicious items were found at the address. As a result, the Army’s EOD team have been called as a precaution. Officers remain at the scene this afternoon.<\/p>\n
“As a precaution several homes have been evacuated while searches take place.”<\/p>\n
Police have cordoned off the area, with one resident telling Birmingham Live “all houses” had been evacuated in the street, and armed police were “everywhere”.<\/p>\n
Another resident told local media: \u201cThe bomb disposal van was here yesterday too, but we weren\u2019t asked to evacuate.<\/p>\n
“Today, police were searching again and this time we\u2019ve been asked to leave our homes. The police haven\u2019t told us what\u2019s been found.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cIt\u2019s worrying when you don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on, but hopefully everything is made safe and we can go home soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Residents said they were evacuated from their homes for around two hours this afternoon as police shut the road.<\/p>\n
One said: “We were just told to evacuate. We\u2019ve been out of our homes for around two hours, but now we can go back in. It\u2019s all a bit strange.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a brief update, the force has now declared the cordon will soon be lifted after several hours of disruption.<\/p>\n
