Fans of the TV talent show were rather baffled.<\/p>\n

Britain’s Got Talent fans were left divided after puppets from Avenue Q kicked off the latest live instalment.<\/p>\n

Saturday evening’s (May 9) semi-final of the ITV<\/a> staple began with a musical number featuring characters from the show, performing before judges Simon Cowell<\/a>, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI, alongside the studio audience.<\/p>\n

While the Britain’s Got Talent<\/a> audience seemed enchanted by the puppet performance, those tuning in at home weren’t entirely convinced. Social media was soon awash with reactions, with one viewer posting: “Just turned BGT on… WTF are we watching?”<\/p>\n

“What a strange start to the show!” another echoed. One fumed: “What’s this opening act? What are we watching… the worst ventriloquist act ever? So dull and boring and just a waste of a slot.”<\/p>\n

“What the hell was that opener?” questioned another baffled viewer, reports the Daily Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yet not everyone was disappointed by the glimpse of the long-running comedy musical.<\/p>\n

“Loving this puppet stuff,” one fan enthused on social media. “It will be the best talent on the show tonight.”<\/p>\n

Another observed: “Avenue Q opening the show is a BOLD choice for 2026! It’s been 20 years since they hit the West End and they’re still more entertaining than half the human acts we see. Simon’s face says it all!”<\/p>\n

Four acts have now secured their places in the final of Britain’s Got Talent<\/a>, which is presented by Ant and Dec. Singer Matty Juniosa sailed through after Amanda pressed her golden buzzer, while Anastasiia and her canine companion Salsa captured the public vote with a captivating dance performance that delighted both judges and home audiences.<\/p>\n

During the second semi-final, it was Alesha’s turn to wield the golden buzzer, which she deployed for dance act LMA.<\/p>\n

Magician Fabian Fox then earned his ticket to the finale through public backing.<\/p>\n

For the third semi-final, KSI was entrusted with the golden buzzer, granting him the authority to fast-track one performer directly to the final round, where they’ll vie for the \u00a3250,000 prize and a coveted appearance at the Royal Variety Performance.<\/p>\n
