{"id":32870,"date":"2026-05-10T10:45:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T10:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/32870\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T10:45:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T10:45:21","slug":"2-convicted-for-going-to-london-jewish-area-to-film-themselves-verbally-abusing-locals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/32870\/","title":{"rendered":"2 convicted for going to London Jewish area to film themselves verbally abusing locals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two men were convicted Saturday when they admitted to antisemitic hate crimes after having traveled to a predominantly Jewish area of London to film themselves abusing Jewish people.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Bedoui, 20, and Abdelkader Bousloub, 21, pleaded guilty to a religiously aggravated public order offense at Thames Magistrates\u2019 Court, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>It was the latest in a series of assaults on Britain\u2019s Jewish community that included a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/two-jewish-men-wounded-in-stabbing-attack-in-londons-golders-green-assailant-arrested\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">terror attack<\/a> that seriously injured two men, and arson attacks on Jewish property, including synagogues. In the most deadly recent attack, two men were killed in a stabbing and car-ramming attack in Manchester on Yom Kippur, in October 2025<\/p>\n<p>According to police, Bedoui and Bousloub traveled on Thursday to Clapton Common, which lies close to the Stamford Hill area of the capital, home to tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews.<\/p>\n<p>There, they \u201cverbally abused\u201d a Jewish man while filming the incident for the TikTok video-sharing platform.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tGet The Times of Israel&#8217;s Daily Edition<br \/>\n\t\t\tby email and never miss our top stories\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tBy signing up, you agree to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/terms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">terms<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Officers were alerted to the incident and arrived while the suspects were still in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/05\/AFP__20251002__77HX2KC__v6__HighRes__BritainCrimeReligionPolice.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3820087\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/AFP__20251002__77HX2KC__v6__HighRes__BritainCrimeReligionPolice-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tIllustrative: A woman holds the hands of children as Metropolitan Police officers patrol the streets in Stamford Hill, north London on October 2, 2025 (HENRY NICHOLLS \/ AFP)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly detained by officers at the scene,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a deliberate and targeted antisemitic attack, aggravated by the pair\u2019s intention to post the incident on social media to spread hatred,\u201d said Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter, who leads policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. \u201cIt is completely unacceptable and has no place in London.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bedoui and Bousloub will appear for sentencing at Thames Magistrates\u2019 Court on June 5.<\/p>\n<p>Three others who were also arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail pending further enquiries, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Amid a spike in antisemitic crimes, police noted that in\u00a0the past four weeks alone, the Met has arrested around 50 people for antisemitic hate crimes, with 10 individuals charged.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a man was arrested on Thursday for a suspected antisemitic hate crime after making threats to Jewish passengers on a bus on Upper Clapton Road, which joins Clapton Common, also close to Stamford Hill.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Jewish community protection group, Shomrim, the man shouted, \u201cShame Hitler didn\u2019t kill you,\u201d and \u201cYou should all go in the gas chambers,\u201d at Jewish passengers on a number 254 bus.<\/p>\n<p>He also threatened Jewish children, claiming he had a knife, Shomrim said.<\/p>\n<p>The bus driver activated an emergency alarm and Shomrim volunteers arrived and, along with members of the public, detained the man before handing him over to the police.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">???? No weapon was found on the suspect.\n<\/p>\n<p>He was named by the Crown Prosecution Service as James Agius, of Hackney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Met takes incidents of this nature incredibly seriously. The incident is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime, and our enquiries continue,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>Siwan Hayward, Transport for London (TfL) director of security, policing, and enforcement, said in a statement, \u201cWe are absolutely appalled by this report.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe take a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of hate crime, and work with the police to pursue anyone who is abusive to our customers or staff,\u201d Hayward said, and that TfL was supporting police in their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Also Thursday, Zakos Michael, of no fixed abode, allegedly \u201crepeatedly made antisemitic gestures and shouted abuse in a predominantly Jewish residential area,\u201d the Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He was charged with racially aggravated harassment. (Daniel Leal\/AFP)<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0 Robert Jenrick, the Reform UK party\u2019s Treasury spokesman, received a death threat that referenced his wife, who is Jewish, the Times newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/politics\/article\/robert-jenrick-wife-antisemitic-death-threat-7szj6szn2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reported<\/a> Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The threats were left on the voicemail at Jenrick\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The Crown Prosecution Service said it charged Nick Daly, 30, of Oxted, Surrey, with sending a death threat or threat of serious harm to a member of parliament.<\/p>\n<p>He was also charged with sending an antisemitic message to the Israeli embassy and a hate message to a Muslim organization.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, he was accused of possessing cannabis and a weapon. (REUTERS\/Hollie Adams)<\/p>\n<p>On Friday night, Jenrick was interviewed for the BBC\u2019s Question Time show and mentioned, in relation to funding for security for his party\u2019s leader, Nigel Farage, that, \u201cI myself have been the recipient of death threats. My wife is Jewish. We receive antisemitic abuse all the time. It is sometimes tough going into public life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also on Friday, a man appeared in court in Manchester over alleged threats to Jews in the northern British city.<\/p>\n<p>Greater Manchester police detained a man in his 60s following reported threats against Jews in the Heaton Park area of Salford.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne Kelly, 65, appeared before a district judge at Manchester Magistrates\u2019 Court, where he pleaded guilty to multiple hate crime offences, the Crown Prosecution Service said.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Hammond, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, said that Kelly \u201churled vile antisemitic abuse at Jewish men who were on their way to a synagogue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot content with shouting abuse, Kelly also threatened the man and made references to historic atrocities committed against Jewish people,\u201d she said. \u201cThe strength of the evidence left Kelly with little option but to admit the offences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is to be sentenced at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said they opened an investigation concerning an incident on April 20 when a car mounted the sidewalk and allegedly drove at three Jewish schoolchildren who were forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The car then sped off.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on Holders Hill Road, the location of the Hasmonean High School for Boys.
