A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with pedestrians<\/a> in Arnold town centre, leaving one with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n Emergency services were called to Market Place at 1.12am on Saturday (May 9) following reports a red Vauxhall Astra had struck a group of people.<\/p>\n Investigations have revealed an altercation took place in Arnold town centre a short time earlier.<\/p>\n One man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries, while four other men suffered minor injuries.<\/a><\/p>\n A team of detectives had been trying to locate the suspect throughout the day and this evening made an arrest.<\/p>\n A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in custody.<\/p>\n Counter Terrorism Police<\/a> are not involved in the investigation.<\/p>\n Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, who is leading the investigation, said: \u201cWe have shared this important update with the family of the seriously injured man and they are being supported by specialist officers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe would ask that people do not speculate about the circumstances around the incident and respect the privacy of those involved.<\/p>\n \u201cOur investigation remains ongoing and we are keeping an open mind while these extensive inquiries continue.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019d like to thank those members of the public who have shared information with us but still want to hear from anyone else who can assist.<\/p>\n \u201cAnyone who has relevant dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage should also get in touch and share it with the investigation team.<\/p>\n \u201cAll road closures in the area have now been lifted and we\u2019d like to thank local people for their understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n A cordon was in place in the centre of Arnold for about 17 hours and many businesses were forced to close for the day following the incident.<\/p>\n Anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information relating to the incident <\/a>should call Nottinghamshire police 101, quoting incident 46 of May 9, 2026.<\/p>\n
