{"id":33382,"date":"2026-05-11T07:13:40","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T07:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/33382\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T07:13:40","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T07:13:40","slug":"sadiq-khan-reignites-donald-trump-feud-days-after-labour-battered-in-london-elections-politics-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/33382\/","title":{"rendered":"Sadiq Khan reignites Donald Trump feud days after Labour battered in London elections | Politics | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The mayor of London claims he is \u201cliving rent-free\u201d in <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Donald Trump&#8217;s head<\/a> as he responded to the US leader&#8217;s criticism. <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/sadiq-khan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sir Sadiq Khan<\/a> added that it is \u201cabsurd\u201d that he has attracted so much attention from the US president.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/london\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">London<\/a> Mayor told the Big Issue magazine that London is the \u201cantithesis\u201d of all Mr Trump believes in. He said: \u201cIt\u2019s absurd that President Trump is obsessed with me. It\u2019s like I\u2019m living rent-free inside this guy\u2019s head for 10 years now. President Trump, objectively speaking, is a nativist. He\u2019s a protectionist and a unilateralist. He believes in mono-ethnicism. He believes in the superiority of his religion, Christianity, and of Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sir Sadiq has regularly been the subject of criticism from Trump, with the US President often criticising his record as mayor and directing a number of personal attacks against him.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the US President labelled Khan a \u201cnasty person\u201d who has done \u201ca terrible job\u201d, as he met with Sir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/keir-starmer\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Keir Starmer<\/a> during a visit to the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The US President said he was \u201cnot a fan\u201d of London\u2019s Labour Mayor when asked if he would visit the UK\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters at his Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire, Mr Trump said: \u201cI\u2019m not a fan of your mayor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he\u2019s done a terrible job, the Mayor of London \u2026 a nasty person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister intervened to say: \u201cHe\u2019s a friend of mine, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump went on to add: \u201cI think he\u2019s done a terrible job. But I would certainly visit London.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has previously directed his ire at Khan, branding him a \u201cstone cold loser\u201d and challenging him to an IQ test.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the plethora of criticism sent his way across the Atlantic, Khan added: \u201cLook at London. A city that is progressive, liberal, diverse, multicultural and the greatest city in the world.
