Susanna Reid has made an unexpected appearance on Good Morning Britain’s BBC<\/a> rival as her absence from the ITV<\/a> new programme continues over the Easter<\/a> break.<\/p>\n

Those who have been tuning into GMB this week will have seen that Susanna has been replaced by Kate Garraway, who is fronting the show alongside ITV News’ Paul Brand.<\/p>\n

It comes as last week, Susanna revealed she will be “taking a break” from GMB until April 13, as she thanked the show’s “incredible” viewers. The 55-year-old shared a picture on Instagram posing in a blue and white dress, before her last GMB appearance for the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

Susanna, who usually hosts GMB from Monday through to Wednesday alongside the likes of Ed Ball and Richard Madeley, captioned the post: “LOVE IT! I am just hopping off for my Easter break – back @gmb on Monday 13th April. THANK YOU to all our incredible viewers and guests after another HUGE programme yesterday – with increases in viewers and share of viewing year on year. We love what we do and we love that even more of you love it too!”<\/p>\n

But, on Wednesday (April 1), Susanna made an unexpected early return to the small screen, but on the programme she used to host, as she formed part of the messages shared with Carol Kirkwood during her last stint on BBC Breakfast.<\/p>\n

Carol became a weather<\/a> presenter for BBC News in 1998 and Carol has been seen providing live forecasts on programmes such as BBC News, BBC World News and BBC News at Six for over two decades, but has been the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast<\/a> since 2010.<\/p>\n

It was announced by Carol <\/a>back in January that she was leaving BBC Breakfast in order to spend more time with her husband, police officer Steve Randall, who she married back in 2023. And while not an April Fool’s, it was on Wednesday (April 1), that Carol set one last 2.30am alarm and appeared on BBC Breakfast for the last time as a weather presenter.<\/p>\n

She was flooded with video messages from a number of well-known faces wishing her well in her next chapter, including Susanna, who said: “Oh Carol, as well as being such a brilliant broadcaster, you have such a wonderful way about you that infectious laugh we’ll all miss.”<\/p>\n

She continued: “Remember the time I was sitting alongside Bill [Turnbull] and you told us we were going to experience temperatures of 99 degrees celsius across the UK, causing a slightly bemused nation to wonder how to dress for the day ahead! But you styled it out with a smile and made weather broadcasting history, where you’ll always have a place. Love you, Carol.”<\/p>\n

When she announced her exit at the beginning of the year, Carol broke down in tears as she explained that she \u2018loved her husband more than her job\u2019. So, I’m going to be leaving – and it’s really hard, really hard for me to say this because I love my job. But it’s great – I don’t want to be coming in in my Zimmer frame and saying, \u2018I can’t reach the Northern Isles anymore\u2019,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n
