Police were at the church over the weekend<\/p>\nAn arrest has been made after a churchyard was sealed off as part of an investigation into an alleged rape.<\/p>\n
Police cordoned off the entrances to All Saints Church in Mill Street, Maidstone, at around 10.30pm on Saturday (May 9).<\/p>\n

It follows reports that a woman had been raped by a man she met earlier that evening.<\/p>\n
It is alleged the incident happened in two town centre locations, between 7pm and 10pm, at a venue in the High Street and near the church in Mill Street.<\/p>\n
Yesterday (Monday), a 50-year-old man from Chatham was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody pending further inquiries.<\/p>\n
Anyone with information is urged to call 999, quoting reference 46\/73799\/25.<\/p>\n
Local residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam, who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, are also asked to check for footage.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, the police cordon was still in place at two entrances of the Grade I Listed church.<\/p>\n
KentOnline understands the police are treating this as an isolated incident.<\/p>\n
All Saints Church has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n
