agrees partnership with Government to boost self-driving car tech in UK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Self-driving car company Wayve has reached an agreement with the Government to development the technology in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Business Secretary Peter Kyle said the partnership demonstrates that the Government is \u201cbacking high-growth British scale-ups\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The Memorandum of Understanding with Wayve focuses on sharing research to \u201cbring forward responsible deployment of self-driving cars,\u201d the Department for Business and Trade said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">It comes as the company prepares to launch self-driving taxis in London later this year as part of a partnership with ride-hailing    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Wayve plamns to launch commercial robotaxi trials in the city in 2026, with ambitions to deploy its \u201csupervised autonomy software\u201d in consumer vehicles from 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The company\u2019s technology uses artificial intelligence models which learn how to drive using video content, driving data and recognising patterns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">US rival Waymo has also revealed plans to make its driverless private hire vehicles available in London from next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Mr Kyle said: \u201cThis partnership with Wayve shows how Government is backing high\u2011growth British scale\u2011ups through our modern industrial strategy to turn world\u2011leading research into real\u2011world deployment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cBy working hand\u2011in\u2011hand with innovative companies, we are accelerating self\u2011driving technology while anchoring jobs, investment and manufacturing here in the UK \u2013 making Britain the best place to start, scale and grow a business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Wayve co-founder and chief executive Alex Kendall said: \u201cWe share the Government\u2019s ambition to drive economic growth through the development of the self-driving vehicle sector in the UK and globally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cStrengthening domestic capabilities will anchor high-value manufacturing in the UK, create thousands of skilled jobs across the supply chain, and support the future of the automotive industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cThis is in addition to the transformative benefits to road safety to be gained from self-driving vehicles deployed at
