{"id":35494,"date":"2026-05-13T13:46:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T13:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/35494\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T13:46:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T13:46:00","slug":"malawi-uk-bishops-explore-catholic-university-partnership-renewed-diocesan-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/35494\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi, UK Bishops Explore Catholic University Partnership, Renewed Diocesan Collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aciafrica.org\/author\/201\/nicholas-waigwa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                        <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Nicholas Waigwa\" class=\"author-image m-0 mr-4\" height=\"48\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/nicholas_1748377605.jpeg\" width=\"48\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n                    <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"post-info\">Karonga, 12 May, 2026 \/ 10:00 pm (ACI Africa).<\/p>\n<p>Bishop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/bishop\/bmtumb.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Anwel Mtumbuka<\/a> of Malawi&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/diocese\/dkaro.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Catholic Diocese of Karonga<\/a> and Archbishop<a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/bishop\/bmoth.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Charles Phillip Richard Moth<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/diocese\/dwest.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster<\/a> in the United Kingdom (UK) are exploring a possible partnership between Catholic universities in their respective countries alongside renewed efforts to strengthen ties between their Dioceses.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1BeKBuogjw\/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">communiqu\u00e9 issued on Monday, May 11<\/a>, Karonga Diocese said the two Catholic Church leaders discussed \u201cthe possibility of collaboration between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stmarys.ac.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Mary&#8217;s University<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/cunima.ac.mw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Catholic University of Malawi<\/a> (CUNIMA)\u201d during their meeting in the UK Metropolitan See.<\/p>\n<p>According to the communiqu\u00e9, Archbishop Moth \u201cexpressed full support for the partnership\u201d between the two Catholic institutions of higher learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Archbishop asked Bishop Mtumbuka to discuss further with the university&#8217;s Vice Chancellor the possible areas of collaboration,\u201d the communiqu\u00e9 reads in part, referring to the UK Catholic Church leader, who chairs St. Mary\u2019s University Council and is set to become Chancellor of the London-based institution of higher learning.<\/p>\n<p>Established by the <a href=\"https:\/\/episcopalconferencemalawi.wordpress.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Episcopal Conference of Malawi<\/a> (ECM) in 2004, the Catholic University of Malawi is dedicated to providing holistic education through teaching, research, and community service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Karonga, 12 May, 2026 \/ 10:00 pm (ACI Africa).
