A Scottish Labour candidate has been dropped after he faced allegations of fraud<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mohammed Ameen, who was contesting Glasgow Southside, faced the single charge when he appeared for a petition hearing held in private at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.<\/a><\/p>\n The 43-year-old pharmacist, whose general address was listed as Glasgow, is alleged to have committed fraud within the Sheriffdom of South Strathclyde.<\/a><\/p>\n Ameen entered no plea to the charge, was committed for further examination and granted bail.<\/p>\n A Scottish Labour spokesman said: \u201cScottish Labour holds its candidates to the highest standards of honesty and integrity.<\/p>\n \u201cUpon becoming aware of serious matters relating to Mr Ameen, the Party took immediate action. But people in Glasgow are tired of broken promises and being taken for granted.<\/p>\n “Glaswegians deserve better and Labour will deliver it – cutting NHS waiting lists, bringing back the family doctor, creating skilled jobs and apprenticeships, and making it easier for local families to find an affordable home.<\/p>\n “After almost 20 years of SNP government, Scotland and Glasgow needs change and on May 7th, people in can vote for it by voting Scottish Labour.”<\/p>\n The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said his next appearance is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n This is a breaking news story – we’ll bring you updates, pictures and video as it happens.<\/p>\n
