Tributes have been paid to footballer Tyler Fairman who was killed after a car crashed into a group of pedestrians in Arnold town centre.<\/p>\n

Police have launched a murder investigation after the 26-year-old was pronounced dead in hospital on Tuesday (May 12) after the collision happened in the early hours of Saturday, May 9.<\/p>\n

Mr Fairman had been on an end-of-season night out with his Woodthorpe Park Rangers teammates when he and two other victims were hit by a red Vauxhall Astra in Arnold town centre.<\/p>\n

The club issued a short tribute on Wednesday morning (May 13), accompanied by orange heart emojis and a picture of Mr Fairman.<\/p>\n

The tribute read: “Rest in peace TY. Forever our number 6. TF6 [Tyler Fairman 6].”<\/p>\n

Gedling’s Labour MP Michael Payne has also paid tribute to the footballer, saying he was supporting Mr Fairman’s loved ones.<\/p>\n

He said: “I am devastated to hear 26-year-old Tyler Fairman has passed away following the horrific incident in Arnold town centre at at the weekend.<\/p>\n

“My deepest sympathy to Tyler Fairman\u2019s family and friends. This is such a heartbreaking loss.<\/p>\n

“I know everyone in our community will be sending all their love, thoughts and prayers to Tyler\u2019s loved ones.<\/p>\n

“I will do all I can to support Tyler\u2019s family, loved ones and our community.”<\/p>\n

Gedling Borough Council leader, John Clarke, has also released a statement following the incident.<\/p>\n

He said: “This is devastating news, and my thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones of the man who has sadly lost his life, as well as everyone affected by this shocking incident.<\/p>\n

“Leaders of Gedling Borough Council were at the scene on Saturday morning to receive updates from partner agencies and to offer support as the response continues.<\/p>\n

“I want to reassure residents that Nottinghamshire Police remain firmly in charge of the investigation and have confirmed there is no wider threat to the community.<\/p>\n

“The council continues to work closely with our partners to support residents during this difficult time.”<\/p>\n

Duane Anthony<\/a>, 40 and of Marton Road, Bulwell, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and other driving offences.<\/p>\n

He appeared in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 11, when he faced the families and friends of the victims as they attended the hearing in the public gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anthony was remanded into custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on June 8.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, who is leading the investigation for Nottinghamshire Police, explained on Wednesday that Mr Fairman’s family have asked for anyone holding footage of the incident to remove it from their social media.<\/p>\n

She said: “As we release the sad news of Tyler\u2019s death, our first thoughts go to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.<\/p>\n

“Both they and the other people injured or affected by this collision continue to be supported by specially trained police officers.<\/p>\n
