In just six years, Lockdown Bakehouse has become a fully fledged southwest London institution. It started life\u00a0in a small kitchen\u00a0in 2020, suppling flour, eggs, loo roll, bread and pastries to locals and NHS workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Then, it opened a pop-up caf\u00e9. After that it\u00a0found a permanent home in Wandsworth. Since then, it\u2019s launched four other\u00a0locations south of the river and\u00a0started supplying fresh bakes to more than 180 other caf\u00e9s across London from its Wimbledon bakehouse.<\/p>\n
Now, Lockdown Bakehouse is gearing up to launch its\u00a0sixth branch.\u00a0It\u2019ll open the doors to its brand new\u00a0Putney caf\u00e9 on Wednesday\u00a0June 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On opening day,\u00a0the caf\u00e9 will\u00a0be giving away coffee and pastries for just \u00a31 all day. The menu also includes \u00a35 focaccia sandwiches, full Aussie breakfast, shakshuka and American pancakes. In the past, the baked goods have included TimTam doughnuts, smoked salmon and cream cheese pin wheels and lemon and pistachio slices.<\/p>\n

Chris Brumby, who founded Lockdown Bakehouse with his wife Dawn, said: \u2018South West London has always been home for us, Dawn and I have lived here for 17+ years and every site we’ve opened has been built around the local community that supports it. <\/p>\n
\u2018So many of our regular customers have followed our journey from those early lockdown days and Putney felt like a natural next step. It\u2019s a neighbourhood with a real sense of community, where people genuinely care about independent businesses, quality food and places that bring people together – which is exactly what Lockdown Bakehouse is all about.\u2019<\/p>\n
Once launched, Lockdown Bakehouse Putney will open from 7am until 4pm from Monday to Saturday and 8am until 4pm on Sundays.\u00a0Lockdown\u2019s\u00a0other branches can be found in Wandsworth, Barnes, Clapham, Earlsfield and Raynes Park.<\/p>\n
