{"id":39695,"date":"2026-05-18T11:30:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T11:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/39695\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T11:30:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T11:30:11","slug":"reform-uk-to-nominate-new-ccn-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/39695\/","title":{"rendered":"Reform UK to nominate new CCN chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/Image\/Reform-UK-to-nominate-new-CCN-chair\/shutterstock_2626012101211\/jpg\" alt=\"Reform UK to nominate new CCN chair image\" class=\"img-responsive img-full\"\/>Reform UK \u00a9 Antiquary \/ Shutterstock.com.<br \/>\n        The County Councils Network (CCN) has announced that the Reform UK Group is to nominate the new chair of the network.<\/p>\n<p>A statement published today confirms that Reform UK now has the relative majority of the CCN constitution (35.3%), followed by the Liberal Democrats (22.5%), then the Conservatives (21.9%).<\/p>\n<p>Following the CCN\u2019s political proportionality update, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/Reform-urged-to-expel-a-dozen-new-councillors-over-extremist-views\/64359\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reform<\/a> is now to work alongside the CCN to confirm the group\u2019s nomination for the network\u2019s chair, with Cllr Matthew Hicks remaining in the role until the decision is made.<\/p>\n<p>The nominated councillor will then be made Chair-Elect ahead of the CCN\u2019s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 10, which will see the individual formally become the CCN Chair.<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/What-are-the-Green-Partys-priorities-in-local-government\/64352\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Green Party<\/a> now having more than 5% of the weighted electorate in CCN member council areas, it is now eligible to separate from the Independent Group and form its own group on the network.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As a strong cross-party network, representing the interests of county and unitary authorities across England, the CCN will be working closely with, and supporting, all councillors and new administrations as they navigate their first few weeks\u2019, the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/CCN-launches-new-business-plan-following-local-elections\/64365\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CCN published its new business plan yesterday<\/a>, with the aim of increasing representation of member councils.<\/p>\n<p>Check out: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/Reform-UK-What-Britains-fastest-rising-party-stands-for\/62460\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reform UK: What Britain\u2019s fastest rising party stands for<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.localgov.co.uk\/form\/bulletin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Politics &#038; Policy banner.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reform UK \u00a9 Antiquary \/ Shutterstock.com.
