{"id":40605,"date":"2026-05-19T12:13:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T12:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/40605\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T12:13:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T12:13:11","slug":"foster-partners-faces-court-over-fatal-window-fall-from-high-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/40605\/","title":{"rendered":"Foster + Partners faces court over fatal window fall from high-rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British studio\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/foster-partners\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Foster + Partners<\/a> is set to stand trial over alleged health and safety failings at The Corniche towers in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/london\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">London<\/a>, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2018\/10\/04\/man-dead-london-foster-partners-corniche-tower-architecture-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a man was killed in 2018 by a window pane<\/a> that fell from the building&#8217;s penthouse.<\/p>\n<p>Charges were brought against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fosterandpartners.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Foster + Partners<\/a>, developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berkeleygroup.co.uk\/about-us\/who-we-are\/our-brands\/st-james\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St James Group<\/a>, contractor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindnerprater.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lindner Prater<\/a>, and engineering consultant <a href=\"https:\/\/wintech-group.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wintech<\/a> for exposing people to risks related to &#8220;the outward opening penthouse window vents&#8221;, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cgjp1y7v782o\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The companies will stand trial at Inner London Crown Court on 6 July for failing to discharge a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Foster + Partners pleads not guilty<\/p>\n<p>Mick Ferris, 53, died on 2 October 2018 while passing by the 85-metre-high Corniche high-rise, after he was hit by a window pane that fell from the building&#8217;s penthouse.
