A man has been charged with a string of offences after a 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says it was called out to reports of a girl being abducted in Altrincham<\/a> at around 6.45pm on Monday evening (May 18).<\/p>\n

A 56-year-old man from Stockport<\/a> was arrested in connection with the alleged offences. In a statement issued today (Friday), GMP confirmed he had since been charged.<\/p>\n

Paul Sharpe, of Yates Street, Portwood, has been charged with kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. He has also been charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, making threats with a bladed article and administering a substance with intent.<\/p>\n

Sharpe has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates\u2019 Court later today. Enquiries remain ongoing, GMP says.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant, of the Criminal Investigation Department in Trafford, said: \u201cOfficers are continuing to work tirelessly on this investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The girl and her parents are now being supported by specialist officers, who are working with her to build up a full picture of the incident.<\/p>\n

“As this is a live investigation, people should refrain from online speculation.
