A man in his 70s has died after a crash with a lorry on a high street in South London, the Metropolitan Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

Officers were called at 11.03am on Friday to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a lorry on Clapham High Street, South London.<\/p>\n

A man in his 70s was treated at the scene by paramedics, but despite efforts of the emergency services he was pronounced dead at 11.36am, the force added.<\/p>\n

London Ambulance Service and London\u2019s Air Ambulance also attended the incident.<\/p>\n

In an X post on Friday afternoon, Lambeth Council said: \u201cRoad closures and diversions are in place following a tragic fatal road traffic collision on Clapham High Street today.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with all those affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cClapham Library will remain closed for the rest of the day as a result of the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

Footage shared on social media on Friday appeared to show a section of Clapham High Street, near the intersection with Clapham Manor Steet, cordoned off around a blue tent with several police cars and a dozen officers in attendance.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation and is urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to call 101 quoting CAD2859\/22MAY26, or call the North Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness line on 0207 960 8044.<\/p>\n
