Shares in FTSE 100 data publishers were slammed by AI worries on Tuesday after US AI company Anthropic released a new ‘agentic’ tool for corporate legal teams.<\/p>\n
RELX PLC, which owns legal industry information and analytics provider LexisNexis, slumped 12%;\u00a0while London Stock Exchange Group PLC\u00a0dropped 8.1%, and\u00a0Experian PLC\u00a0fell\u00a07.4%. Business publisher\u00a0Informa PLC\u00a0fell 4.8%, education and testing group\u00a0Pearson PLC\u00a0slid 4% and other media sector names like WPP PLC\u00a0and\u00a0Future PLC\u00a0in the FTSE 250 fell 7.1% and 3.1%.<\/p>\n
Anthropic, the company behind\u00a0Claude, first launched the tool on its GitHub page last week. Bloomberg<\/a> and other financial outlets<\/a> reported the development today.<\/p>\n The US AI company said\u00a0the new plugins for its agentic Claude Cowork facility can automate\u00a0legal\u00a0work such as reviewing contracts, triaging non-disclosure agreements, composing briefings and providing templated responses.<\/p>\n It is designed to aid productivity for companies’ in-house legal teams, one of 11 plugins designed to automate specific tasks within a company.<\/p>\n “Anthropic is releasing plugins for Cowork that extend Claude\u2019s agentic capabilities beyond general tasks into specialized business functions.\u00a0Plugins bundle skills, connectors, slash commands, and sub-agents that make Claude work like a domain expert for specific roles and teams, sales, finance,\u00a0legal, data analysis, marketing, customer support, and more,” the company told media.<\/p>\n According to its GitHub page, the legal productivity plugin can “review contracts, triage NDAs, navigate compliance, assess risk, prep for meetings, and draft templated responses”.
