{"id":49248,"date":"2026-05-26T17:06:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T17:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/49248\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T17:06:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T17:06:24","slug":"britain-imposes-new-sanctions-on-russian-crypto-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/49248\/","title":{"rendered":"Britain Imposes New Sanctions on Russian Crypto Infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Britain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/uk-targets-russian-crypto-networks-latest-sanctions-2026-05-26\/\" title=\"imposed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">imposed<\/a> a new round of sanctions on Russian cryptocurrency platforms and financial infrastructure that it says are helping Moscow circumvent Western restrictions and fund its war effort in Ukraine, targeting a Kremlin-linked crypto network and several widely used digital payment services.<\/p>\n<p>The measures are part of a broader effort by Western governments to close financial loopholes that Russia has increasingly relied on as sanctions pressure has tightened since the start of the war.<\/p>\n<p>Regulators have paid growing attention to cryptocurrency platforms and cross-border payment systems that can facilitate international transactions outside traditional banking channels.<\/p>\n<p>Britain said the sanctions targeted the A7 crypto network, which authorities described as a tool used to support Russia\u2019s wartime economy and facilitate payments linked to Russian oil exports.<\/p>\n<p>British authorities said entities connected to A7 have actively used Kyrgyzstan\u2019s financial system to move funds through cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>More than $90 billion may have passed through the network in 2025, according to the British assessment, a sum roughly equivalent to half of Russia\u2019s annual military spending.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are tracking down and shutting off the financial lifelines that sustain Putin\u2019s war machine.
