Reckitt Benckiser<\/a> has agreed to sell its Essential Home\u00a0business to private equity investor Advent International for $4.8bn (\u00a33.6bn).<\/p>\n Essential Home\u00a0includes the brands Air Wick, Calgon, Woolite and Cillit Bang. <\/p>\n The FTSE 100 giant, which will retain a 30 per cent equity stake in\u00a0the business<\/a>, has been reshaping its business to focus on \u201c11 high-growth, high-margin Powerbrands\u201d as part of a simplification drive.<\/a><\/p>\n Kris Licht, Reckitt chief executive, said the company was \u201cexecuting [its] strategic plan at pace\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe divestment of Essential Home represents a significant step forward in unlocking the substantial value in our business. <\/p>\n \u201cThis moves Reckitt towards becoming a simpler, more effective world-class consumer health and hygiene company and it will enable us to focus on a core portfolio of high-growth, high-margin Powerbrands.\u201d<\/p>\n Licht added that Essential Home will \u201cbenefit from Advent\u2019s new majority ownership\u201d with Reckitt\u2019s retained minority stake in Essential Home a \u201cpotential long-term value enhancement opportunity\u201d.<\/p>\n Essential Home operates across the air care, surface, pest and laundry segments and generated \u00a32bn of net revenue in 2024, 14 per cent of Reckitt\u2019s total net revenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n Adjusted operating profit in the division was \u00a3490m in 2024. <\/p>\n Ranjan Sen, Managing Partner at Advent, said: \u201cWe are delighted to partner with Reckitt and the Essential Home management team. The carve-out represents a unique opportunity to create a focused, scaled platform of globally recognised home care brands that operate in attractive categories with structural growth tailwinds. <\/p>\n \u201cWe are confident we can build on the portfolio\u2019s strong foundations to drive operational excellence and unlock the brands\u2019 full potential.
