The train did not have any passengers on board at the time. <\/p>\n<p>Another train, a Southeastern service from Kent with more than 200 commuters on board, also suffered technical issues and became stuck.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"486\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SEI_299128343-9443.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28542247\" alt=\"A queue to the Eurostar check in at London St Pancras station.\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tHolidaymakers queued up at St Pancras for the Eurostar check-in after delays on the railways (Picture: X\/@RossiTardelli)<\/p>\n<p>It had tried to reverse out of the tunnel towards Kent when it broke down, causing a knock-on effect on train services in the area.<\/p>\n<p>In the backlog, other Southeastern passengers were left to sit on the floor, with their train delayed for more than 90 minutes, one told Metro.<\/p>\n<p>It came as temperatures in the capital approached 30\u00b0C for the fifth day in a row during the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/school\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">school<\/a> half-term break.<\/p>\n<p>Holidaymakers at St Pancras\u2019 Eurostar terminal faced knock-on delays, with long queues snaking up the concourse.<\/p>\n<p>Delays were also reported on the French side, with the 7.37am service from <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/paris\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paris<\/a> Gare du Nord listed as delayed \u2018due to technical issues\u2019 on the Eurostar website.<\/p>\n<p>A Eurostar spokesperson said: \u2018Earlier this morning, a Eurostar train carrying no passengers, along with another domestic train, experienced technical issues near Stratford.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Due to the knock-on impact on the timetable, Eurostar services departing from St Pancras International are experiencing some delays. We would urge any customer whose journey was delayed by 15 minutes or more to claim delay repay on our website.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A Eurostar and a Southeastern train developed faults on the approach to the station, which reduced the number of lines available and meant fewer services were able to run. Services are returning to normal but with some delay.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Customers can use their tickets at no extra cost on the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/elizabeth-line\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elizabeth Line<\/a> and Underground between Stratford and central London, and Thameslink between Rainham and St Pancras.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tHow is the journey home today?\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The Mildmay and Suffragette Lines are under severe delays after signal failure and train cancellations.<\/p>\n<p>District line travel was suspended earlier between Earl\u2019s Court and Wimbledon after a person fell onto the tracks at West Brompton.<\/p>\n<p>Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City, Bakerloo, Central and Circle Lines are operating under minor delays<\/p>\n<p>Were you affected?
