Data shows that millions of people now manage their money digitally which has caused branch footfall to plummet. It was previously reported that 52 bank branches would close in May, making it increasingly difficult for customers to access physical services on the high street.

According to Lloyds, over 21 million of its customers use the app as their main way to bank. A spokesperson added: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.”

Likewise, NatWest will shut dozens of branches in 2026 and 2027 amid a decline in face-to-face banking. The bank said its “network and services need to reflect customer demand and ensure we are set up to deliver the best possible support”.

However, the shift towards digital banking will raise concerns among people who rely on physical services. This may include older and vulnerable customers who are less confident with mobile technology or require access to cash.

Brits are still able to carry out most basic banking tasks at their nearest Post Office. Meanwhile, some banks offer a mobile branch service – a bus that comes to your area offering services you can usually get at a physical branch.

Those affected by the closures are also advised to contact their bank to see what services are available. Alternatively, you could switch your account to a bank that has branches closer to you.

Here is the full list of closures this week.

These NatWest banks will close this week:

The following Lloyds Bank sites shut for good on Wednesday:

[21386
25408,22291,4154,20345,25406,7955,25407,10249
post-50899","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-natwest","tag-branch-footfall-decline","tag-digital-banking-shift","tag-high-street","tag-lloyds-bank","tag-lloyds-bank-closures","tag-natwest","tag-natwest-closures","tag-store-closures
["GET
