They can also offer solutions to help eligible customers with high bills.

“From cooling tips to billing help, our teams are taking a proactive approach to ensure that our customers have the support they need to stay cool and to keep costs down throughout the summer season,” said Bill Malee, National Grid’s chief customer officer.

These tips can help residents save on energy costs throughout the hot summer:

— Adjust thermostats. Setting a thermostat to a higher, reasonable temperature while at home and adjusting it even higher when away from home can save energy. Lowering the thermostat below the desired setting will not cool a home faster and may result in unnecessary energy use.

— Run fans with air conditioning. Oscillating or box fans near air conditioning vents can improve cold air flow throughout a room.

— Close window coverings. Ambient sunlight can heat a room.

— Charge electric vehicles overnight. This can earn customers off-peak charging rewards and reduce stress on the grid.

Visit ngrid.com/hereforyou for more information on ways to save energy and reduce energy costs.

National Grid is offering Cape Ann residents a chance Tuesday to connect one-on-one with customer advocates in Gloucester.…

[21249
26217,26225,5290,26221,26232,26227,159,26219,234,26226,26222,26218,5597,26220,2580,26230,26231,26229,26223,4577,26228,26216,26233,26224
post-53185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-national-grid","tag-air-conditioning","tag-and-air-conditioning","tag-building","tag-building-automation","tag-building-engineering","tag-electric-power","tag-electricity","tag-electromechanical-engineering","tag-energy","tag-energy-technology","tag-engineering-thermodynamics","tag-heat-transfer","tag-heating","tag-home-appliances","tag-national-grid","tag-power-physics","tag-sustainable-building","tag-sustainable-energy","tag-sustainable-technologies","tag-temperature","tag-thermodynamics","tag-thermostat","tag-transport-phenomena","tag-ventilation
["GET
