A street in Glasgow<\/a> has been locked down amid a “chemical incident” this evening.<\/p>\n Emergency services raced to Lenzie Terrace in the Springburn area after the alarm was raised at around 3.30pm on Sunday, May 31. Officers from Police Scotland<\/a> say they were responding to reports of a chemical incident at a property on the street.<\/p>\n A section of the street was quickly cordoned off as ambulance and fire crews were called to assist, and nearby homes were evacuated. A picture shared with the Record showed the extent of the major emergency response.<\/p>\n The area could be seen sealed off<\/a>, with crews in bright yellow protective hazmat suits seen heading into a block of flats. Locals have been left shocked after the incident unfolded, with some revealing they have been told they cannot leave their homes.<\/p>\n One resident said: “The street is completely blocked off and some of us aren\u2019t even allowed to leave the house.”<\/p>\n Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area and anyone who requires assistance can approach officers<\/a> at the scene.<\/p>\n A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance at a chemical incident at a property on Lenzie Terrace in Glasgow, which was reported around 3.30pm on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
