Police have issued an update after two men were left fighting for life following separate stabbings<\/a> in Manchester over the weekend. Officers descended on Great Ducie Street, in Strangeways<\/a>, following reports of a stabbing at 11.32pm on Saturday night (May 30).<\/p>\n

A man in his 30s was rushed to Manchester Royal Infirmary with stab wounds to his back, described as ‘potentially life-threatening injuries’. Around 16 hours later, officers were called out to another suspected stabbing on Trust Road, in Gorton<\/a>, at 3.50pm.<\/p>\n

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with ‘serious life-threatening injuries’. In an update issued this morning (June 2), Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said both men were now in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault (causing grievous bodily harm with intent) in connection with the Great Ducie Street stabbing, after being found on nearby Barker Street at 11.49pm on Saturday. GMP says the suspect has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. No arrest has yet been made in connection with the Gorton incident.<\/p>\n

The incidents were part of a trio of serious knife attacks across Greater Manchester at the weekend, with a man also left fighting for life after a stabbing on Avon Road, Norley Hall, Wigan<\/a> on Friday night.
