The Atlanta Falcons have made Drake London one of the NFL\u2019s highest-paid wide receivers, signing the 24-year-old to a new four-year extension worth $141 million (and potentially up to $150 million), including $100 million guaranteed, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.<\/p>\n
Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham said at the league\u2019s annual meeting in March that an extension for the team\u2019s No. 1 wide receiver was \u201ctop of mind.\u201d Atlanta drafted London with the eighth pick in the 2022 draft, and he has led the team\u2019s wide receivers in yards each year since.<\/p>\n
Since his rookie season, London is 15th in the NFL in receiving yards (3,961), according to TruMedia. In the last two seasons, he is among the top 10 in the league in receiving touchdowns (16), receiving yards per game (75.5), targets (270) and team target percentage (25.5).<\/p>\n
The California native has also emerged as a quiet leader and one of the most respected players in the Falcons locker room. Atlanta put rookie wide receiver Zachariah Branch\u2019s locker next to London\u2019s when Branch joined the team in April.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrake is one of the more competitive people I have ever been around,\u201d left tackle Jake Matthews said. \u201cHe hates to lose, hates to let his teammates down. He\u2019s just a stud. He\u2019s going to be the last one to take credit, too, which I have always admired about him. One of my favorite teammates to be around.\u201d<\/p>\n
London was set to play the 2026 season on a fifth-year option that would have paid him $16.8 million. He has already collected $21.5 million from the team over the first four years of his rookie deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think you have to take into account the player, the value, the position, maybe the marketplace,\u201d Cunningham said of a potential London deal before the contract was signed.<\/p>\n
