{"id":58138,"date":"2026-06-08T02:01:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T02:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/58138\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T02:01:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T02:01:28","slug":"london-antisemitic-attacks-rise-by-70-compared-to-previous-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/58138\/","title":{"rendered":"London antisemitic attacks rise by 70% compared to previous month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Antisemitic hate crimes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-898447\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">London<\/a> surged 72% in May from the month before, new Metropolitan Police statistics reveal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The police recorded 255 antisemitic hate crimes in May 2025, up from 148 in April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">This also means that crimes targeting Jews have jumped by 172% compared to the same month last year (91 incidents).<\/p>\n<p>Most of the incidents in May 2026 were concentrated in the borough of Barnet, where the Jewish neighborhoods of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-898183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Golders Green<\/a>, Hendon, and Finchley are located. Barnet was followed by Hackney in East London, Westminster, Camden, and Haringey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In 28 of the 32 London boroughs, at least one antisemitic hate crime was logged by the Met in May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In total, there were 2,251 incidents listed as hate crimes in May 2026.
