The area affected by the power cuts this morning <\/p>\n
Hundreds of homes and businesses are without power in Cornwall.<\/p>\n
According to National Grid, some 730 homes are in the dark right now in the Mylor Bridge area near Penryn<\/a>.<\/p>\n The incident was reported shortly after 9.30am this morning (Saturday June 6).<\/p>\n National Grid said more than 1,000 properties were first affected but by 10.50am 729 homes were still without power while 443 properties had theirs restored.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the company said it expects power to be re-established by 1.30pm this afternoon. They added: “There’s a fault on the high voltage power lines in the area, and we’re getting this sorted as a priority.”<\/p>\n The power cuts comes as the Met Office has blanketed Cornwall under a yellow warning for high winds.<\/p>\n The Met Office issued the warning for wind for 7am to 9pm today.<\/p>\n The forecasters said: “Following wet and windy conditions overnight, a second spell of strong southwest to westerly winds is expected to arrive across western Cornwall during Saturday morning.<\/p>\n “These will steadily move eastwards across Cornwall, English Channel coastal districts, and the Isle of Wight, reaching Sussex by mid-afternoon. Winds will then begin to ease from the west.<\/p>\n “Gusts of 45-50 mph are likely widely along coasts and more generally across Cornwall, and may reach 55mph in a few exposed spots.
