Dozens of banks across the nation’s high streets<\/a> are set to shut permanently as the rollout of closures continues throughout the month. Lloyds Bank, Halifax, NatWest<\/a> and Bank of Scotland all have branches that will close next week, with the combined total amounting to 26 banks across the country.<\/p>\n

Several banks have confirmed that the closures come as more and more people are choosing to use banking services<\/a> online rather than go in-branch.<\/p>\n

However, the closures have sparked concerns, especially among the elderly and those who rely on additional help with their banking tasks.<\/p>\n

NatWest<\/a> said: “We’ve recently announced that we’re closing some branches. You can still bank with us in many other ways.<\/p>\n

“Banking has changed dramatically in recent years. There’s more demand for mobile and online services, allowing you to benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.<\/p>\n

“We understand the closure of your local branch will bring some changes, and we want to make sure you are fully informed and supported every step of the way.”<\/p>\n

Both NatWest and Lloyds Banking Group, which owns Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, have assured customers that they can still make use of other measures to help such as community pop-ups. Banking hubs are also being set up in some impacted locations.<\/p>\n
