{"id":59714,"date":"2026-06-10T01:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T01:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/59714\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T01:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T01:49:07","slug":"fifth-suspect-charged-in-london-hatzalah-ambulance-arson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/59714\/","title":{"rendered":"Fifth suspect charged in London Hatzalah ambulance arson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Britain\u2019s Crown Prosecution Service announced Tuesday that an 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-895623\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March arson attack<\/a> that destroyed four ambulances owned by Hatzalah, a Jewish volunteer emergency service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Subhan Ahmed, a British national, was charged on Monday with \u201cassisting an offender\u201d in connection with the arson.<\/p>\n<p>The ambulances were set ablaze in the early morning of March 23 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-898183\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golders Green<\/a>, a heavily Jewish neighborhood in London. The incident spurred increased patrols in Jewish communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The charge is the latest development in an investigation being led by the Metropolitan Police\u2019s counter-terrorism unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Four others have already been charged in connection with the attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Three British nationals, 20-year-old Hamza Iqbal, 19-year-old Rehan Khan, and 18-year-old Judex Atshatshi, along with a 17-year-old dual British and Pakistani national, were all charged in April with \u201ccommitting arson, destroying or damaging property, and being reckless as to whether life would be endangered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The four have remained in custody ahead of a trial planned for January. Ahmed, meanwhile, was released ahead of a June 16 court date.<\/p>\n<p>The ambulance arsons came at the early edge of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-896189\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wave of incidents<\/a> that have put London Jews on edge and induced the city\u2019s police force to step up their presence in Jewish communities. The incidents have included multiple incendiary devices placed near synagogues as well as the stabbing in April of two Jewish men in Golders Green.
