Photo: National Grid<\/p>\n<p>However, the Local Democracy Reporting Service understands that North Kesteven District Council have sent it back and requested more information.<\/p>\n<p>National Grid hasn\u2019t commented on how long this would delay the project, which is required for the solar farms to get online.<\/p>\n<p>A National Grid spokesman said: \u201cWe have submitted a planning application to North Kesteven District Council for the proposed Navenby substation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe council has requested some additional information as part of the process, which we are working to provide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 4060 3030\" alt=\"The Cliff Villages Solar Action Group at the site of the approved Springwell Solar Farm on Green Man Road, Navenby. Photo: LDRS<\/p>\n<p>Once the application is accepted, it will be published on the council\u2019s planning website for public comments.<\/p>\n<p>Campaigners against Lincolnshire solar farms see this as a key battle, with the application being determined locally rather than by government ministers.<\/p>\n<p>The substation would occupy 32 acres of land off Heath Lane, just east of Navenby.<\/p>\n<p>The Springwell, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk\/news\/temporary-solar-farm-around-lincoln-wouldn-t-be-removed-un-9449025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fosse Green<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk\/news\/plans-for-one-of-biggest-solar-farms-in-area-revealed-9399411\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Leoda<\/a> solar farms, which would cover nearly 8000 acres around North Kesteven, would all rely on the facility.<\/p>\n<p>National Grid says on its website: \u201cThere is a shift towards renewable energy sources, meaning there is a greater demand on our network to connect new sources of electricity and customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Navenby area a large number of organisations have requested new power connections to the national grid network, and as a regulated business, we have a legal obligation to meet these requests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo connect several proposed solar farms in the area, including Springwell Solar and Fosse Green, a new 400 kV substation is needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not possible to connect everything proposed in the area to existing regional substations such as Bicker Fen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk\/news\/villagers-say-not-one-person-wants-mega-solar-farm-9461161\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Springwell solar farm recently won approval<\/a>, but is now facing a legal challenge from North Kesteven and Lincolnshire County Councils.<\/p>\n<p>The Leoda project has been temporarily put on hold, with the applicant saying it wants to \u201creview and refine\u201d plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Plans for a substation which could have a dramatic impact on a county\u2019s landscape have been hit by&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":59925,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[21249],"tags":[529,2580,3236,1834],"class_list":["post-59924","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-national-grid","tag-human-interest","tag-national-grid","tag-newark","tag-planning"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@UnitedKingdom\/116725115998398541","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/59924","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=59924"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/59924\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/59925"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=59924"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=59924"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=59924"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
