FTSE Russell plans to roll out a new index designed especially with the global equity allocations of U.S. investors in mind,\u00a0the global index provider announced Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new Russell 9000 Global Index will capture\u00a0roughly\u00a09,000\u00a0of the world\u2019s largest companies across three market segments:\u00a0the\u00a0U.S.,\u00a0developed markets excluding the U.S., and emerging markets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
It\u2019ll\u00a0essentially\u00a0offer\u00a0exposure to\u00a0a mix of the index provider\u2019s Russell 3000, Russell 3000 Developed World ex US and Russell 3000 Emerging indices.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Russell 9000 Global Index builds on the strength and familiarity of the Russell US Indexes, extending a transparent and rules-based approach to a global scale,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Gerald Toledano, group head of equity and multi assets at FTSE Russell, in a release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis new benchmark applies a consistent\u00a0methodology\u00a0across core building blocks, providing a clear and practical framework for global equity allocation \u2013 anchored by the flagship Russell 3000 Index as the U.S. foundation, alongside developed ex-U.S. and emerging markets.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
FTSE Russell, which is owned by London Stock Exchange Group, said the new index is born out of demand from\u00a0its\u00a0asset owner and asset manager\u00a0customers, \u201cwho\u00a0highlighted the growing complexity in global benchmarking and the challenges created by differing regional\u00a0methodologies.\u201d <\/p>\n
